Home CCTV across the South West
Wired PoE, wireless, 4K, local-storage and 4G systems for homes across Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, Bristol and selected surrounding areas.
The honest distinction
A battery camera can be a sensible retrofit. A cabled PoE system with an NVR is designed around continuous local recording, storage capacity, cable testing and expansion. Both can be good - but comparing their headline prices is apples and pears.
Your quotation should state what each camera covers, how it performs at night, how it is powered, where footage lives, how long it is expected to remain available, what cabling is included and what you will actually pay.
Three useful starting points
These are realistic planning bands, not fixed quotes. Access, cable concealment, night-time requirements, storage, networking and equipment availability can move the figure.
Basic
£450-£750
Usually two outdoor Wi-Fi or battery cameras, mounting, app setup, motion zones, local/cloud choice and privacy configuration.
Standard
£960-£1,800
Four 4MP/4K IP cameras, PoE NVR, storage, supported night testing, remote viewing and evidence-export handover.
Premium
£1,500-£3,200+
Six to eight cameras, larger recorder and storage, enhanced low-light coverage, analytics and more demanding access.
Planning ranges are customer-facing totals based on current UK market evidence. VAT treatment, if applicable, is confirmed on the written quotation. SIM/data plans, subscriptions, structural work, specialist access and major network or electrical work are excluded unless stated.

Price and booking planner
This calculator exposes the real cost drivers instead of pretending every wall, cable route and night-time view is identical.
What a professional quote covers
Entrances, vulnerable routes, lighting, neighbours, intended image detail and sensible camera count.
Camera type, field of view, NVR or DVR, local or cloud storage, retention and expansion.
Hardware, labour, cable route, access, network work, VAT status, exclusions and recurring costs.
Mounting, weather protection, cable management, PoE or power arrangements and recorder location.
Recording, app access, alerts, user permissions, day/night views, privacy zones and evidence export.
Camera map, agreed settings, securely transferred credentials, warranty information and support route.
Choose the architecture first
One Ethernet cable can carry data and low-voltage power to each camera. Strong for continuous recording, predictable performance and future expansion.
A sensible upgrade route where usable coax already exists. Fresh installs normally need separate power and are less flexible than native IP/PoE.
Lower-disruption retrofit with excellent app options. Battery life, wireless strength, charging and cloud subscriptions need an honest conversation.
Useful for gates, garages, farms and outbuildings without fixed broadband. SIM costs, signal, local storage and solar design are surveyed separately.
| Route | Recording | Main strength | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PoE + NVR | 24/7 local | Reliability and expansion | Cable routes and recorder security |
| Coax + DVR | 24/7 local | Reusing existing coax | Separate power and ageing cable |
| Wireless smart | Event/local/cloud | Fast retrofit and polished apps | Signal, batteries and subscriptions |
| 4G/LTE | microSD/cloud | Remote locations | Mobile data, signal and power |
The cost after installation
The cheapest-looking camera can become the dearer choice once subscriptions, data and battery replacement are counted. We separate one-off installation costs from ongoing commitments before you agree the job.
Usually no compulsory cloud fee for core recording. Allow for drive health, sensible retention settings and secure recorder placement.
Live view may work without a plan, while longer history, rich alerts or advanced features may sit behind a monthly subscription.
A SIM and suitable mobile-data allowance are normally required. Signal strength, event frequency and live viewing affect data use.
Charging intervals vary with weather, traffic and alert settings. Batteries and solar panels still need periodic inspection and cleaning.
CCTV maintenance and aftercare
We can quote an existing-system health check or planned maintenance visit: accessible lens cleaning and alignment, recording and storage checks, night-view review, alert testing, account-access review, firmware advice and a practical footage-export test.
We will tell you when a repair is worthwhile and when ageing, unsupported equipment makes replacement the sounder option. Manufacturer warranties, subscriptions and replacement parts remain subject to the relevant supplier's current terms.

Keeping the things that matter safe
A camera is evidence and awareness, not a force field. Start with sound doors and windows, useful lighting and sensible routines. Keep spare keys, vehicle keys, laptops and small valuables away from easy sightlines. Secure bikes and tools inside garages or sheds rather than relying on the camera alone.
Protect the security system as well: put the recorder somewhere less obvious, use a strong unique password and two-factor authentication where the platform supports it, keep firmware current and restrict app access. Test night views and alerts after changes to lighting, planting or parking.
Decide how footage will survive a theft. A hidden local recorder, replicated storage or an appropriate cloud plan can reduce the risk of losing the only copy. Keep the date and time accurate and learn how to export a useful clip before you actually need one.
Neighbour-friendly by design
Where possible, cameras should only capture your own property. If they record a neighbour's property, shared space or a public area, data-protection law applies because images and audio can be personal information.
We plan sensible angles, detection zones and privacy masks. The camera owner remains responsible for having a clear purpose, limiting capture, securing footage, deleting it when no longer needed, displaying appropriate signage and responding to valid requests.

Common questions
Still unsure? Message us with the postcode, property type and areas you want to cover.
Message us nowStraightforward smart-camera work can start in the hundreds, while properly cabled multi-camera recording systems commonly move into four figures. Prime Property Care shows planning ranges, then confirms equipment, cable routes, access, storage and the customer total in a written quotation.
For continuous recording and predictable network performance, wired PoE is normally the strongest new-install default. Wireless and battery systems are often better where new cabling would be disproportionate or intrusive.
An NVR records digital IP-camera streams over a network. A DVR normally receives camera video over coax and digitises or processes it at the recorder. Existing coax can make a DVR upgrade commercially sensible.
Yes. A local PoE NVR can record cameras on its wired network without Wi-Fi. Internet access is normally required for remote phone viewing. A 4G camera can cover a remote gate or outbuilding where fixed broadband is unavailable.
Not necessarily. NVR, DVR and microSD systems can provide local recording without a compulsory monthly fee. Some smart-camera platforms reserve longer cloud history or advanced features for a paid plan.
The final quotation separates equipment and installation from recurring costs. Depending on the chosen route, those may include cloud recording, a 4G data SIM, replacement batteries or an optional maintenance visit. Local-recording systems can avoid a compulsory cloud fee, but storage and equipment still need periodic checks.
A straightforward domestic installation is commonly completed in one or two days including setup and testing. Difficult access, concealed routes, larger systems and repair work can extend the programme.
Yes. Prime Property Care can assess existing domestic CCTV, clean and realign accessible cameras, test recording and footage export, review alerts and user access, and quote sensible repair or upgrade work. Manufacturer support and replacement-part availability vary by system.
Yes, but the camera owner is responsible for using it lawfully. Where recording captures beyond the private boundary, data-protection rules apply. Cameras should capture no more than necessary and use careful positioning or privacy masks where appropriate.
No. It records the chosen system route and requested date, and it is deducted from an accepted final quotation. The installation date and final price are confirmed only after the scope, property, access, equipment availability and privacy considerations have been reviewed.
